About the Artist
I quilt the way I garden, in a loose spontaneous
way. Usually the results are pleasing! I am
inspired by the natural landscape in gardening
and have adopted the method of “liberated
piecing” in my quilting. Inspired by the work of
Rosie Lee Tompkins, the Gee’s Bend collective,
the work of Gwen Marston and Jean Wells and
the colors of Freddy Moran and Kaffe Fassett, I
go where the fabric leads me.
My work is functional not technical, not many
straight lines, pointy points or perfect seams.
While I respect technical craftsmanship it isn’t my
strength. I am pleased to reveal “the hand of the
maker” in my work. It is fun, original and practical
art that fits easily into everyday life.
I hope my enjoyment in the making of it shines
