The public is invited to an Opening Reception on Saturday, May 10, 3-5pm at Valley Artisans Market, 25 East Main Street, Cambridge, NY. The artist will be on hand to discuss her work, process and inspiration. The exhibit can be viewed during Valley Artisans Market hours Wednesday-Sunday, 10am-5pm.

About the Artist:

Diane Swanson is a lifelong artist based in the Lake George/Adirondack region.  Originally trained as an illustrator, the artist enjoys conveying stories with her imagery; even a simple landscape can tell a powerful tale. Her work is representational, but with an eye towards more abstract qualities, harmonizing atmosphere and movement with form, color and line. Diane paints primarily in transparent watercolor and gouache, creating works both in studio and en plein air; she believes that painting in watercolor presents her artistic voice most authentically.

Her work has been exhibited in many juried, group and solo shows throughout the region and the Northeast. Recent juried shows at the national level include the Adirondack National Exhibition of American Watercolors 2023 & 2024 in Old Forge NY, Bryan Gallery’s Land & Light & Water & Air Exhibit 2023 & 2024 in Jeffersonville VT, Green Mountain Watercolor Exhibition 2022 & 2023 in Waitsfield VT, Marblehead Arts Association 2025 & 2022 Variations National Juried Exhibit in Marblehead MA. She has participated as an artist in the ASA’s Landscapes for Landsake for the past three years. She is a Signature member of Vermont Watercolor Society.
