About the Artist

My artistic practice is centered in the observational drawing and painting of botanical and scientific subjects, as well as, landscapes. A professional background in urban planning and landscape design informs my artwork.

Botanical art and Plein Air painting offer endless opportunities to explore my curiosities about nature, ecology, land use and community. My most recent commission was a colored pencil drawing of a newly discovered virus for the University of Michigan.

I teach art and design classes for The New Art Center, Washtenaw Community College, The Southern Vermont Arts Center, as well as, weekly workshops for students with developmental disabilities for Community Access to the Arts (CATA). My teaching experiences are extremely rewarding to me as I train and support many adult learners who are inspired to work independently. Creating and nurturing supportive art communities for my students is central to my goals as an educator.
