About the Artists
Artists Kathy Klompas and Cheryl Gutmaker
When the world seems to be falling apart artists need to find new ways to put it back together, fusing and folding to create new, potent and beautiful art. Cheryl with glass and Kathy with paper and fabric, these artists assemble and reassemble components creating visually intriguing colorful art.
Kathy uses printmaking, paper weaving and collage to playfully explore color, pattern, and rhythm, with dyes, inks, paints and papers. Fresh new patterns can emerge with digital manipulation of the original art. She is the owner of Ragged Edge Printmaking Studio in Cohoes, and a member of Oakroom Artists. Kathy has studied textile and costume design before finding a love for the magic of printmaking.
Cheryl enjoys exploring as many techniques of glassmaking as she possibly can, working with colors, patterns and new designs that are pleasing to the eye. Her work is always evolving and pushing the boundaries of what glass can do.
The Lady’s Got Glass is the name to look for to find her work. Cheryl is a member of two artist co-ops in the region, Micropolis Gallery and Cooper Country Crafts. Her work can also be found in many shops and galleries in New York and Vermont.
