“I’ve always been interested in the materials that can be made into objects of art/craft,” Targan said. “Over the years I’ve worked with paint, ceramic, metal, wood, polymer clay, glass, paper, fabric and some substances which I can’t identify for certain. The work in this show focuses mainly on glass boxes, burnt paper, and imprinted plaster panels. My actual name is Barry Targan, but I’ve presented my work as Richard Dubin. My wife, Arleen Targan, is an accomplished painter, and I didn’t want there to be any confusion as to which Targan was Targan!”
